ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Hasani Williams was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Williams averaged 24.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the field last week to lead Mitchell. He recorded his second double-double of the season against Maritime College with a career-high 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds. He also chipped in three assists, two steals and a block. Earlier in the week he scored 16 points and pulled down six boards in a match-up against Division I Sacred Heart University.
Williams earns player of the week honors for the first time in his career. The 6-4 forward has started all four games for the Mariners this season and leads the team in both scoring (17.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg).
Mitchell (1-3 overall) will next play at John Jay College on Tuesday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m.
