Tennis to Face #2 Lesley in NECC Semifinals
ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Regis College finished the regular season unbeaten and earned the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Men's Tennis Championship.
Regis (10-8, 10-0 NECC) will host fourth-seeded Becker College (5-5, 5-5 NECC) in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 24 at 4 p.m. Second-seeded Lesley University (8-6, 7-3 NECC) will host third-seeded Mitchell College (7-5, 6-4 NECC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The winners of each match will advance to the finals on Saturday, April 27 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Mitchell is the defending conference champion. The Mariners defeated Regis in last season's finals to clinch their fourth straight NECC title.
Mitchell split matches with both Lesley and Becker this season, though both defeats came by 5-4 finals. The Mariners also played those matches without their regular lineup due to illness.
The Mariners lost both regular season meetings against Regis but gave the Pride their toughest test of the conference slate. The two teams last battled on April 15 in a match that came down to the final point, with Regis holding on for a 5-4 victory.
