The 3rd Annual Thames River Regatta was held at the Mitchell College Sailing Center Wednesday afternoon. Conn College, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, UConn and Mitchell sailed six races in gusty, shifty southwest winds to see which team would claim the title of the Thames River Champion.
Conn College won the event for the second time in three years with UConn, Coast Guard and Mitchell close behind in the standings. Congratulations to the Camels for their victory.
After the racing, all four teams enjoyed a wonderful dinner spread of pizza, chips, pasta salad, green salads and table of delicious desserts. It was great to see the teams sitting on the dock enjoying the comraderie of being college sailors and competitors.
A special thanks go to Nancy LaFosse-Baker (along with Jared's Grandma), Mr. and Mrs. Abbenante, and Mr. Lee for joining us for the event and organizing the food. Thanks also go to the other parents who supplied the other essentials that made this regatta such a success.
It was a fantastic way to end the season.
