Three Softball Players Earn NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Three members of the Mitchell College softball team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.
Junior Tricia Tomaselli and sophomore Lindsey Romagnino were named to the all-conference second team while junior Ariel Hallisey garnered all-conference honorable mention status. All honors were determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches.
As Mitchell's top pitcher, Tomaselli made 11 appearances and eight starts in conference play and posted a record of 5-5 with a 3.24 ERA. She also recorded 40 strikeouts in 62.2 innings of work and batted .390 with nine RBI and eight runs scored.
Romagnino earned all-conference honors for the second straight season, leading the Mariners with a .396 batting average in NECC action and driving in a team-high 15 runs. She logged the majority of her playing time at shortstop but also made starts behind the plate, at third base and in the outfield.
Hallisey, a second baseman, made an impact in her first season with the Mariners. She played in all 18 conference contests and batted .300 with eight RBI and 10 runs scored. She also ranked third in the NECC with 10 stolen bases and tied for fourth with 11 walks.
Mitchell (11-24 overall, 8-10 NECC) qualified for the 2013 NECC Championship but was eliminated by Becker College in the first round.
