ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Ashley Murtha was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of women's lacrosse, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Murtha scored 32 goals in three conference games last week to pace the Mariners. She tied a NCAA Division III single game record with a career-high 14 goals against Becker, and in the process she also netted her 200th career goal. She finished with 11 goals and 12 draw controls in a win over Newbury and added seven goals and five draw controls in a loss to Elms.
Murtha earns player of the week honors for the fourth time in her career and second time this season (April 3). She currently leads the nation in goals per game (7.43), a category she led as both a freshman in 2014 and a junior in 2016. In seven games this season she has netted 52 goals to go with five assists for 57 points.
Mitchell (2-5 overall, 1-4 NECC) will next play at Bay Path University on Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m.
