Bio

Cenk Akarpinar enters his third season at Mitchell College in 2024–25. He officially joined the Mitchell program on September 3, 2023.

Prior to his arrival at Mitchell, Akarpinar coached at Stonington High School during the 2022–23 season. He joined the staff after the team’s 2–8 start and helped lead them to a 12–11 finish and an Eastern Connecticut Conference championship.

At Mitchell last season, Akarpinar oversaw video scouting efforts and was responsible for player development, drill design, playbook preparation, scouting, and the presentation of game film.

During the 2023–24 season, he also served as an Advance Scout for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA. His responsibilities included opponent analysis, scouting reports, video breakdowns, in-game analysis, and individual player edits.

In the 2024–25 season, he worked with another WNBA team—the Dallas Wings—also as an Advance Scout. He completed his second season as a WNBA scout, analyzing multiple teams and presenting detailed reports to WNBA head and assistant coaches.

A native of Adana, Turkey, Akarpinar earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Gaziantep University (GAUN) in May 2021. He also successfully completed the Euroleague Head Coaches Academy at the University of Belgrade in 2022.
