Devona Named NECC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Rocco Devona was selected as NECC Player of the Week for the sport of men's tennis, as announced by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Devona went undefeated in both singles and doubles play last week while leading Mitchell to a 2-0 record in NECC matches. The junior won at No. 1 singles against Newbury College and at No. 2 singles against Wheelock College, both by 6-0, 6-0 finals. He also didn't drop a game in a pair of wins over each school at No. 2 doubles, posting 8-0 finals in each contest.
Devona earns player of the week distinction for the second time this season (April 2) and the fourth time in his career. The two-time all-conference selection is undefeated on the season with a 6-0 mark in both singles and doubles.
Mitchell (6-0 overall, 6-0 NECC) is in action today at Becker College for a match that starts at 3:30 p.m.
