BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Mitchell College Mariners continued their successful 2009 campaign today at the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Tennis Championship. Team members claimed victories in six of the nine total flights played on the day, two of three in doubles action and four of six in singles play.

PAXTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College men’s tennis team finished the regular season this afternoon with a convincing 7-2 victory over Anna Maria College, and the win improves Mitchell’s record to 11-0 overall. The Mariners will compete this coming weekend in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship in Boston, Massachusetts as the favorites.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men’s tennis team finished New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play today undefeated (8-0), as they defeated Becker College at home this afternoon 7-1. NECC Player of the Week, Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) brought his season record to 10-0 in singles play and 10-0 in doubles play with two wins today. Out of 72 total NECC matches, Mitchell won 69 of them en route to claiming the NECC regular season title.

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College freshman Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the third time this season. Carmona helped the Mariners to a 3-0 week, including a two 9-0 sweeps of NECC opponents Wheelock and 7-2 against Lesley. For the week, Carmona defeated Wheelock’s Wilson Chang twice at the #1 spot 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1 and then finished the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Lynx’ David Newton 6-1, 6-0. Partnered with Dan Dworetsky in doubles action, they won 8-1, 8-3 and 8-3 respectively for their three matches.

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Tyler Engleberg (Niantic, Conn.) earned the Rookie of the Week honor. Carmona helped the Mariners to a 3-0 week, including a 9-0 sweep of NECC opponent Newbury. In a 5-4 win against Albertus Magnus, Carmona posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #1 singles and teamed with Daniel Dworetsky to earn a 8-2 win at #1 doubles. Against Post, Carmona swept by his #1 opponent 6-0, 6-0 while teaming with Samuel Mahar to grab a 8-2 win in the #1 spot. Carmona closed out the week going 6-0, 6-1 in the #1 spot while again partnering with Dworetsky for a 8-2 victory at #1 doubles.

Five From Baseball Earn All-Region Honors from D3baseball.com

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Five members of the Mitchell College baseball team earned All-Region honors from D3baseball.com on Tuesday when the popular website released its All-Region teams spanning 10 different regions. The 2026 season marks the 14th year D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with more than 1,000 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to D3baseball.com staff and contributors, from which three teams in each region were selected.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Michael Ficocelli (North Providence, R.I.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Player of the Year, while freshman Andrew Manzo (North Haven, Conn.) earned GNAC Rookie of the Year honors, as the league announced its end-of-season baseball awards on Monday afternoon. Additionally, the Mariners had a conference-high nine players selected to one of the three All-Conference Teams.
