Lyndon State Tops Women's Tennis
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's tennis team
dropped an 8-1 decision to Lyndon State College on Sunday afternoon
at the Mitchell College Tennis Courts.
The Hornets began the match by sweeping all three doubles contests
to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Kayla Flynn and Maria Parr teamed up for
an 8-4 victory over Mackenzie Flanagan and Kelly Walsh at the
No. 1 spot. Lyndon State took the final two doubles matches by 8-1
finals.
Lyndon State carried the momentum into singles play, winning five
of six matches to clinch overall victory. Parr defeated Walsh at
the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-1, 6-0 while Flynn was victorious at
No. 3 by finals of 6-2, 6-0.
The lone singles win for the Mariners (0-2 overall) came from
Flannagan at the No. 1 spot. She defeated Jenn Falsetti in straight
sets by scores of 6-1, 6-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
