Baseball Places Four Players on ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams
NEW LONDON, Conn. – Accolades continue to roll in for members of the Mitchell College baseball team, as four players from the program were recently named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III Region 1 All-Region Teams. Selections were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and coordinated by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Representing Mitchell on the All-Region First Team for Region 1 was junior first baseman Michael Ficocelli (North Providence, R.I.). Ficocelli was also the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Player of the Year, a GNAC All-Conference First Team selection, and a D3baseball.com All-Region Second Team honoree. Ficocelli was one of 15 players selected to the All-Region First Team in Region 1, which included schools from Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, and Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, senior catcher Nicholas Bracale (East Haven, Conn.) was selected to the All-Region Second Team in Region 1, while junior outfielder Chas Terni Jr. (Montville, Conn.) and senior pitcher Dom Yarson (Ewing, N.J.) earned All-Region Third Team honors.
Among the most dominant bats in New England, Ficocelli batted .392 with 56 hits, 38 runs scored, and 36 RBI across 43 games while leading the GNAC with 24 doubles, a total that also ranked among the national leaders at the Division III level. He added two home runs and 86 total bases while posting a .475 on-base percentage and .601 slugging percentage. Against conference competition, Ficocelli elevated his production even further, batting a league-best .493 with conference highs of 35 hits and 13 doubles across 20 GNAC games. He also ranked fourth in the conference in on-base percentage (.540), sixth in slugging percentage (.718), and tied for fourth in RBI with 20 during league play.
A GNAC All-Conference Second Team selection and D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team honoree, Bracale emerged as one of the top catchers in the region during his senior campaign, batting .371 with 46 hits, 41 runs scored, and 34 RBI across 41 games. He added six doubles, three triples, and a home run while posting a .515 on-base percentage and .492 slugging percentage. In conference play, Bracale batted .364 with 20 hits, 20 runs scored, and 15 RBI over 20 contests while posting a .478 on-base percentage. Defensively, Bracale was one of the top catchers in the region, recording a .989 fielding percentage with only three errors in 264 total chances. Behind the plate, he threw out 23 runners attempting to steal while helping guide the Mariners pitching staff throughout the season.
A GNAC All-Conference First Team selection and D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team honoree, Terni Jr. continued his stellar Mitchell career this spring, batting .342 with 50 hits, 43 runs scored, and a team-high 48 RBI across 42 games. He added 10 doubles, one triple, and a team-best nine home runs while posting a .476 on-base percentage and .610 slugging percentage. Terni Jr. elevated his performance even further during conference play, batting .397 with 25 hits, 23 runs scored, and 25 RBI over 20 GNAC contests. He also slugged .698 with five home runs while posting a .563 on-base percentage and stealing seven bases in league play.
A GNAC All-Conference Third Team selection, Yarson turned in an outstanding season on the mound for the Mariners, finishing with a 7-2 record and a 2.40 ERA across 15 appearances. Over 63.2 innings pitched, he struck out a team-high 57 batters while limiting opponents to a .254 batting average and posting a 1.12 WHIP. During conference play, Yarson elevated his performance even further, going 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA over 18.2 innings. He allowed just three earned runs on 15 hits while posting a .217 opponent batting average and a 0.91 WHIP against GNAC competition.
The Mariners finished the 2026 season with an overall record of 29-14 while making the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in the past three seasons.

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America teams will be announced on the evening of Thursday, May 28, following the Opening Ceremony at the 2026 NCAA Division III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.
ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 17, while the 2026 ABCA NCAA Division III Region All-Defensive teams will be released on Thursday, June 18.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now spans nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first introduced in 2007.
