Johnson & Wales Tops Women's Tennis
NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's tennis team
dropped an 8-1 final in non-conference action against Johnson &
Wales University on Thursday afternoon at the Mitchell College
Tennis Courts.
Freshman Mackenzie Flanagan captured Mitchell's only victory of the
day, outlasting Haley Nutter in a third-set tiebreak. Flanagan took
the first set by a 6-2 score but dropped the second set 5-7. She
then persevered 10-8 in the tiebreaker to improve to 3-1 on the
season at the top singles position.
Johnson & Wales took every other singles match in straight sets
and swept all three doubles matches.
Mitchell returns to conference play at Bay Path
College on Tuesday, September 21 at 4 p.m.
