Flanagan Named NECC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the fourth time this season, Mitchell
College freshman Mackenzie Flanagan was named New England
Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of
women's tennis, as announced by the conference on Monday
morning.
Flanagan led the Mariners (2-12 overall, 0-8 NECC) to a 9-0 victory
over Albertus Magnus College last week, earning points at both No 1
singles and doubles in the match. She also fared the best of any
Mitchell player at the 2010 NECC Championship, advancing to the
finals of the No. 1 singles flight before falling in three sets
(1-6, 7-5, 6-2) to Becker's Megan Nessen.
Flanagan finished her rookie campaign with an overall singles
record of 11-5 and accounted for nearly half of the Mariners
singles victories. In NECC play she recorded a 6-2 mark and earned
the top seed in the NECC Championship. Flanagan also finished with
a 4-4 conference record at No. 1 doubles.
