Crespo Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Mitchell College freshman Nova Crespo was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Crespo batted .455 with a homer, double, six RBI and two runs scored last week as Mitchell recorded four wins and a tie. He went 4-for-8 in a three-game sweep of Southern Vermont College and drove in runs in all three games. In the series finale he hit a double and home run and knocked in three as Mitchell clinched the second seed for the upcoming NECC Championship.

Crespo earned the honor for the second time this season (March 25). A Mitchell rookie has won the award in six of the eight weeks this season.

Crespo has played in 31 games this season and is batting .306 with 18 RBI and 11 runs scored. He also leads the Mariners with three home runs on the year.

Mitchell will next play a non-conference game against Coast Guard on Wednesday, May 1 at Dodd Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College softball team were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Second Team, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
