Arroyo Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman outfielder Neftali Arroyo was tabbed New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Arroyo earned all-tournament honors by batting .353 with seven RBI and two runs scored over four games in the 2013 NECC Championship. In an 11-2 victory over Daniel Webster College that put the Mariners into the title round, the rookie right fielder went 3-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBI.

Arroyo, who was also tabbed rookie of the week on April 1, has played in all 38 games this season and is batting .310 with team-high 38 RBI. He also leads the Mariners with 17 extra-base hits and three home runs.

Mitchell (23-14-1 overall) was eliminated from the NECC Championship after losing a pair of games to Daniel Webster in the title round. The Mariners now await word to learn if they have received an ECAC postseason berth.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College softball team were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Second Team, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
