NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Mitchell College baseball team took the first two games of its New England Collegiate Conference series with Lesley University on Tuesday afternoon, winning by final scores of 7-0 and 3-2 at the New England Baseball Complex.
In the opener, the Mariners hit up Lesley pitching for three home runs and got a strong outing from starter Eddie Santiago. Jack Finnegan, James Rangel and Eric Marriott all went deep in the game, and Santiago scattered six hits over 7.0 scoreless innings to improve to 4-2.
Mitchell (23-7 overall, 11-2 NECC), which entered the day trailing Lesley in the NECC standings, moved into first place with the wins. The teams will wrap up the series with a single nine-inning game at Mitchell on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Mitchell will be back in action at Becker College on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m.
