Thivierge Named NECC Pitcher of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Roland Thivierge was named New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Thivierge tossed a one-hit shutout against Waynesburg University last week at the RussMatt Invitational, striking out seven without issuing a walk. He faced only two batters over the minimum and retired the first eight batters he faced, as well as the final 12.
Thivierge, who earned the honor for the first time in his career, is 2-0 this season and has yet to allow a run in 14.0 innings of work. His 11 strikeouts are tied for the most on the team, and he's the only starting pitcher on the roster who has yet to walk a batter.
Mitchell (5-3 overall) will open up NECC play at home against Eastern Nazarene College on Friday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m.
