Solimine Nabs NECC Pitcher of the Week Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Ryan Solimine (Danbury, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday.
Solimine earned the honor for the first time this season and becomes the first Mitchell player to be named NECC Pitcher of the Week this season.
Solimine tossed a six-hit complete game, allowing just one run in a 12-1 victory against conference rival Eastern Nazarene College. The senior kept the Lion bats at bay, striking out four and walking none, as the Mariners stayed undefeated in NECC play and ended an Eastern Nazarene winning streak that had grown to 14 games.
Solimine, who was a three-time NECC Rookie of the Week selection in 2019, enters the week with a 3-1 record and a 1.61 ERA in 28 innings of work.
Mitchell (16-4 overall, 4-0 NECC) will next play on Wednesday, April 5, when they host Anna Maria College in a non-conference game.
