Terni Jr. Lands on D3baseball.com Team of the Week
NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College sophomore Chas Terni Jr. (Montville, Conn.) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Wednesday.
Every week during the season, the popular web site recognizes the top performers from across the nation at each position, and Terni Jr. was one of three outfield selections in this week's honorees. It marks the first time in his collegiate career the sophomore has earned the distinction and is the second time a Mitchell player has been featured on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week this spring joining junior Kenneth Miller Jr. (New London, Conn.), who was recognized the week before.
Terni Jr. was virtually unstoppable during a pivotal Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Johnson & Wales University, going 5-8 across the two games, with a double, triple, and two home runs, while driving in seven runs and scoring four times. He began the day with a 2-4 performance in the opener, doubling and scoring once.
The right fielder then erupted for three hits in the second game against the Wildcats, homering twice, lacing a triple, driving in seven runs, and scoring three times.
The Mariners (20-15, 11-3 GNAC) are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 24, with a non-league game against crosstown rival Coast Guard Academy at 4:00 pm.
