Terni Jr. Earns GNAC Player of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Chas Terni Jr. has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for baseball, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The right fielder continued to produce during a 5–0 week for Mitchell, batting .368 (7-for-19) with nine runs scored, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 12 RBI, while posting a .520 on-base percentage and an impressive .895 slugging percentage.
Terni Jr. recorded multiple standout performances, driving in runs in four of the five games he played. In a GNAC win over Colby-Sawyer, he belted a three-run home run, and later delivered a 2-for-3 outing with a home run and four RBI in a 14–8 GNAC victory over Dean. He also added a triple and three RBI in a 23–12 win over MIT. In total, the junior tallied five extra-base hits and was a key run producer throughout the week.
Entering the new week, Terni Jr. is tied for the conference lead with five home runs and ranks third with 24 RBI. He also ranks among the top 10 in the GNAC in hits (25) and slugging percentage (.634), while sporting a batting average of .352.
The Mariners (14-6, 7-1 GNAC) have won eight in a row and will look to stay hot when they continue conference play on Friday, April 3, with a GNAC doubleheader at Albertus Magnus College. First pitch in the opener is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
