Men’s Golf Hosts Emmanuel to Close Regular Season
GROTON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team concluded its regular season with a home match on Tuesday afternoon, hosting Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Emmanuel College in a head-to-head battle at Shennecossett Golf Course.
The Mariners posted a team score of 377 (+93) to take runner-up honors behind the Saints, who claimed the top spot with a 308 (+24).
Sophomore Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) led the way for Mitchell, carding an 85 (+14) to place fifth individually in the nine-player field. Sophomore Luke Pavia (Bolton, Mass.) followed closely behind in sixth with a round of 89 (+18), while senior Jacob Quiles (Wallkill, N.Y.) finished eighth at 99 (+28). Rounding out the scoring for the Mariners was senior Thai-ler Sestokas (Danbury, Conn.), who posted a 104 (+33) to finish ninth overall.
Emmanuel's Andrew Lavoie earned medalist honors with a 73 (+2) to pace the field.
The Mariners will now turn their attention to the upcoming GNAC Men's Golf Championship, scheduled for October 13–14 and hosted by Albertus Magnus College at New Haven Country Club.
