2008 AD3I ALL-INDEPENDENT AWARDS

2008 AD3I ALL-INDEPENDENT AWARDS

Three Mitchell softball players were recently recognized as members of the 2008 All-Independent Softball Teams.  The Association of Division III Independents announced their selections from their 21 member organizations recently.

Mitchell sophomore Sarah Krolikowski of Bristol, Conn. was named the All-Independent Second Team catcher for her success this season at and behind the plate.  Krolikowski finished her season batting .420, crossing the plate 42 times with 13 doubles and three home runs.  She turned in 26 RBI's and 11 stolen bases. Krolikowski was on the 2007 Second Team.

Junior outfielder Lindsey Donelin, from Niantic, Conn., was also named to the All-Independent Second Team.  Donelin batted .363 with 45 runs, 18 RBI's, 11 doubles lit up the base paths with 31 stolen bases.

Junior shortstop Liz Roy of Jewett City, Conn. earned her position on the All-Independent Third Team with her .467 batting average.  She knocked in 45 runs with seven doubles, 10 triples and three home runs. This is Roy's third appearance on the All-Independent list in three years, the 2006 Rookie of the Year and the 2007 Third Team.

All three players return to next year's team. The Pequots ended their season at 14-21 with a fourth place finish in the AD3I Northeast Regional. This marks the final season for Mitchell as an Independent.  Mitchell will be a part of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) starting in the fall of 2008.
