DeCicco Tabbed as GNAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Olivia DeCicco (Haverhill, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
DeCicco delivered a strong week in the circle for Mitchell, posting a 2–1 record with a 2.47 ERA across three spring break starts while logging 17.0 innings and striking out 13 batters.
She opened the week with a dominant outing in an 18–3 win over Penn State Scranton, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out seven. DeCicco followed with a complete-game victory in a 12–1 win over New Jersey City, scattering eight hits and allowing just one run across seven innings. Later in the week, the senior added another complete-game effort, tossing six innings against Penn State Mont Alto. Overall, DeCicco allowed six earned runs on 17 hits while issuing only three walks, finishing the week with a 1.18 WHIP.
Entering the new week, DeCicco is tied for second in the conference with two wins and ranks third with a 3.35 ERA across 23.0 innings of work.
The Mariners (2-6, 0-0 GNAC) will host Bay Path University on Wednesday, March 18 in their home opener. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
