MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second straight week and third time this season, Mitchell College freshman Olivia DeLoach was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's volleyball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
DeLoach finished with a double-double of 16 kills and 14 digs to lead the Mariners to a 3-0 victory over Becker College last week. The victory clinched the fourth seed for the upcoming NECC Championship and also guaranteed Mitchell of its first-ever winning season in the Division III ranks.
Through 22 matches DeLoach is averaging a team-high 2.49 kills per set, and she also ranks second on the Mariners in digs (218) and third in service aces (40). She also ranks among the conference leaders in both kills per set (8th) and digs per set (11th).
Mitchell (13-11 overall, 4-3 NECC) will next host fifth-seeded Becker in the first round of the NECC Championship on Tuesday, November 5 at 7 p.m.
