Hyde Named to GNAC All-Conference Third Team
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore outside hitter Genna Hyde (Cypress, TX) was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Third Team for women's volleyball, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the first time in her Mitchell career that Hyde has earned All-Conference honors.
Following an impressive freshman campaign, Hyde continued to excel on the court this fall. She led the GNAC with 307 kills, while also ranking first in the conference with an average of 3.53 kills per set and 0.78 service aces per set. She finished second in total service aces with 68. Hyde also collected 179 digs, the second-most on the team, and averaged 2.06 digs per set, ranking second on the Mariners.
Across 24 matches, she recorded double-digit kills 20 times and tallied a collegiate career-high 26 kills during the team's season-opening matchup against SUNY Maritime.
Hyde continued to etch her name into the Mitchell women's volleyball record book during her second year in New London. Her 307 kills are the second-most in a single season in the Division III era of the program, as is her 3.53 kills-per-set average. Her 68 service aces set a new individual season record, while her 383.5 total points are the second-most in a season, and her 4.41 points per set established a new individual season record.
Additionally, senior libero Julia Lent (Miller Place, N.Y.) earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
