Cross Country Races at University of Hartford Invitational
HARTFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams returned to action on Saturday, September 6, competing in the 2nd Annual University of Hartford Invitational at Keney Park.
The Mitchell men were led by senior Tim O'Hayre (Hull, Mass.), who crossed the finish line with a time of 22:35 in the 5,000-meter race. Junior Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, Va.) followed close behind with a time of 23:33, while freshman Jeremy Collins (Stonington, Conn.) placed third for the Mariners at 26:24. Freshman Josh Lajoie (Enfield, Conn.) and sophomore Preston Cheng (Staten Island, N.Y.) rounded out the pack for Mitchell with times of 30:09 and 30:20, respectively.
On the women's side, junior Morgyn Perkins (Bristol, Conn.) was the top finisher with a time of 20:41 in the 3,000-meter race. Senior Charlotte Rowley (Bedford, N.Y.) was next with a time of 24:20, followed by junior CJ Alexander (New London, Conn.) at 26:36, junior Sarah Latch (Hampstead, N.H.) at 28:45, and freshman Cenieya Nieves (Bridgeport, Conn.) at 30:16.
The Mitchell men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, September 13, when they compete in the Blazer Classic hosted by Elms College.
