Cross Country Concludes Season at GNAC Championship
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their seasons on Sunday afternoon, competing in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Norwich University.
With only four competing runners, the Mitchell men's team did not qualify for team scoring. Senior Tim O'Hayre (Hull, Mass.) led the Mariners with a time of 33:41 in the 8K race, placing 40th overall in a field of nearly 70 runners. He was followed by junior Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, Va.) and freshman Jeremy Collins (Stonington, Conn.) with times of 39:05 and 39:53, respectively, while sophomore Preston Cheng (Staten Island, N.Y.) rounded out the group at 51:21.
Saint Joseph's College (ME) captured the 2025 GNAC Men's Cross Country Championship with 44 points, while Norwich University finished as runner-up with 46 points. Seth Varin of Norwich claimed the individual title and was named GNAC Runner of the Year after finishing first with a time of 26:44.
In the women's 6K race, junior Morgyn Perkins (Bristol, Conn.) led the way for Mitchell, clocking a time of 37:16. Senior Charlotte Rowley (Bedford, N.Y.) followed at 42:15, with freshman Cenieya Nieves (Bridgeport, Conn.) next at 52:45. Juniors CJ Alexander (New London, Conn.) and Sarah Latch (Hampstead, N.H.), along with Fatimah Alkubaisi, rounded out the lineup with times of 53:21, 54:36, and 55:12, respectively.
Emmanuel College earned the 2025 GNAC Women's Cross Country Championship title with 55 points, while Colby-Sawyer College finished second with 59 points. Adriana Nadeau of Colby-Sawyer was the individual champion and GNAC Runner of the Year, finishing first with a time of 24:05.4.
