Cross Country Races at Connecticut College Invitational
WATERFORD, Conn. – Members of the Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the highly competitive Connecticut College Invitational, hosted by the Camels at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The Mitchell men were led by senior Tim O'Hayre (Hull, Mass.) in the 8K race, which featured over 300 runners. O'Hayre posted a time of 33:56. He was followed by junior Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, Va.) at 37:38, and freshman Jeremy Collins (Stonington, Conn.), who finished in 40:11. Sophomores Preston Cheng (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Lynwood Cogdell (Bridgeport, Conn.) rounded out the Mitchell finishers with times of 46:39 and 46:49, respectively.
Emil Nelson of Williams College recorded the top overall time in the men's race at 25:05, while Williams, Tufts University, and NYU tied for the best team score with 65 points.
In the women's 6K race, two Mariners crossed the finish line. Junior Morgyn Perkins (Bristol, Conn.) led the way with a time of 40:20, followed closely by senior Charlotte Rowley (Bedford, N.Y.), who completed the race in 42:40.
Estella Laird of Williams College posted the top individual time in the women's race at 22:02, which also featured over 300 runners. The Ephs secured the top team finish as well.
The Mariners will conclude their season at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championship, hosted by Norwich University on Sunday, November 2.
