XC's Hoch Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Timothy Hoch was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's cross country, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Hoch led the Mariners at the Tri-State Invitational, posting a personal-best time of 31:38.46 over the 8k race to finish 33rd overall out of 78 runners. Mitchell finished eighth out of the 10 teams in the field.

Hoch has run at five events this season and has seen steady improvements in his times. He trimmed his best 8k time by more than two minutes at the Tri-State, and it marked the first time this season that he led the Mariners in a race.

Mitchell will next compete at the Conn College Invitational on Saturday, October 19 at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn.

Baseball Set to Open Play in NCAA Regional

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College baseball team will open play in the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 15, in the 2026 NCAA Division III Tufts Regional against the host Jumbos, with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Sol Gittleman Park in Medford, Massachusetts.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Michael Ficocelli (North Providence, R.I.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Player of the Year, while freshman Andrew Manzo (North Haven, Conn.) earned GNAC Rookie of the Year honors, as the league announced its end-of-season baseball awards on Monday afternoon. Additionally, the Mariners had a conference-high nine players selected to one of the three All-Conference Teams.
