Ford '15 Named to All-Decade Team
NEW LONDON, Conn. – Former Mitchell College men's basketball standout Joshua Ford was one of 15 players named to the Connecticut D-III All-Decade Basketball Teams (2011-20), as announced this past weekend by the website NoontimeSports.com.
Ford, who graduated in 2015, earned a spot on the second team. He was the only player from the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) to make the list, which also included representatives from the NESCAC, GNAC and Little East.
Players were selected to All-Decade teams based on end of season awards, including conference honors, D3Hoops.com All-American and regional accolades, along with other organizations that highlight the various student-athletes over the past decade.
Ford is one of the most highly-decorated athletes in Mitchell's Division III history. He was a two-time NECC Player of the Year (2013 & 2014), Rookie of the Year (2012), and a four-time all-conference first team selection. He was also named to the NABC All-District Second Team and D3hoops.com All-Northeast Second Team in 2014, becoming the first Mitchell player to earn regional recognition in the DIII era.
Ford played in 93 career games and amassed 1,749 points, 1,057 rebounds, 297 assists, 157 steals and 83 blocks. He ranks second all-time in both scoring and rebounding, and he was the first player in school history to join the 1,000-point/1,000-rebound club.
Ford was a key member of the 2014 Mitchell team that captured the program's first-ever NECC Championship. In the title game he hit the go-ahead free throw with 24 seconds left, finished with a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds and was named tournament most valuable player as the second-seeded Mariners edged No. 1 Elms College.
