NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team dropped a 23–0 decision to Colby-Sawyer College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer took control from the opening draw, scoring 10 goals in the first quarter to build an early advantage. The Chargers added four more in the second to carry a 14–0 lead into halftime.
The hosts continued to pull away in the second half, adding three goals in the third quarter and six more in the fourth to seal the conference victory.
Mitchell was limited to four shots in the contest, with junior Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) leading the way with three, including two on goal. Senior Arrianna Stark (Schenectady, N.Y.) made eight saves while facing 31 shots on goal.
Colby-Sawyer was paced by Lauren Vignola, who finished with five goals and an assist, while Elena Bronson and Rose Finlayson each added four goals.
The Chargers held advantages in shots (38–4), ground balls (17–9), and draw controls (21–4), controlling possession throughout the contest.
The Mariners (0–12, 0–11 GNAC) will close out the season at home against Norwich University on Wednesday, April 22, at 2:00 p.m.
