Women’s Lacrosse Season Comes to an End Against Norwich
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team closed out the 2026 season with a 21–2 loss to Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Norwich took control from the opening draw, scoring nine goals in the first quarter and adding seven more in the second to build a 16–0 halftime lead.
The Cadets continued to extend their advantage in the second half before Mitchell broke through in the fourth quarter. Junior Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) got the Mariners on the board off an assist from sophomore Ava Iwasko (Sterling Heights, Mich.), and senior Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) added a late free-position goal to round out the scoring.
Cordero led Mitchell with six shots, including three on goal, while also scooping a team-high five ground balls. Junior Kiersten Veenstra (Three Rivers, Mich.) added two ground balls.
In goal, freshman Jay Minner (Milford, Conn.) made eight saves while facing 29 shots on goal.
Norwich was paced by Vivian Buntin and Sophia Albright, who each scored four goals, while Athena Merck added three.
The Cadets held advantages in shots (39–11) and draw controls (18–5), controlling possession throughout the contest.
Mitchell concludes the season with a record of 0-15 overall and 0-14 in GNAC play.
