Men’s Lacrosse Falls to MCLA in Season Finale
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team closed out the 2026 season with a 21–7 loss to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Mariners kept pace early, as freshman Killian Stvartak (Glen Burnie, Md.) scored twice in the opening quarter to help Mitchell even the score at 2–2. MCLA responded with a late goal to take a 4–2 lead after one and carried that momentum into the second quarter, building a 6–4 advantage at halftime.
Mitchell remained within striking distance in the third, getting goals from freshman Eric Rousseau (Glastonbury, Conn.) and sophomore Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) to trim the deficit to 8–6. However, MCLA pulled away in the fourth quarter, erupting for 11 goals to put the game out of reach.
Stvartak led the Mariners with four goals, while Mahoney finished with two goals and three assists. Rousseau added a goal, and Connor Comeau (Sudbury, Mass.) chipped in an assist.
Stvartak also contributed seven ground balls and four caused turnovers, while junior Cameron Haefs (Chicago, Ill.) made 16 saves in goal.
MCLA was powered by Anthony Andolina, who scored 11 goals and added two assists.
The Trailblazers held advantages in shots (55–30), ground balls (51–32), and faceoffs (22–6), controlling possession throughout the contest.
