Mitchell Alum Nabs USC Honors
Former Mitchell College men's soccer player Andrew Storton was among those honored by the United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday, as the organization released the 2021 Regional Staff of the Year recipients for NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA men's and women's soccer.
Storton is currently in his third season as an assistant at Connecticut College under head coach Reuben Burk. The two were recognized as the NCAA Division III Region I Staff of the Year, having led the Camels to a 17-4-1 record and a first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament seminfinals.
Each of the 60 (30 men's and 30 women's) staffs receiving Regional Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022.
In addition, the Regional Staff of the Year recipients have been placed on the ballot for United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division.
A three-year letterwinner for the Mariners from 2015-17, Storton finished his career with 22 goals and one assist for 45 points. He also helped Mitchell secure its first New England Collegiate Conference title and NCAA appearance in 2017.
