NEW LONDON, Conn. – On Senior Day at Alumni Field, the Mitchell College men's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory over Emmanuel College on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
Prior to the game, Mitchell recognized their three senior student-athletes: Snadooby Robert (New London, Conn.), Stephen Contreras (Trumbull, Conn.), and Corbett Brassaw (Mansfield Center, Conn.).
Sophomore Sean Khan (Wethersfield, Conn.) opened the scoring in the first half with an unassisted goal at 9:25. In the second half, junior captain Chris Costa (Bayport, N.Y.) scored off assists from Khan and freshman Traven Tully (Bronx, N.Y.), followed by another unassisted goal from Khan. Freshman Edin Lara-Quintana (Stamford, Conn.) finished the scoring with an assist from sophomore Jose Pacheco (New London, Conn.) late in the game.
Freshman goalkeeper Gabriel Tiene (Fairfield, Conn.) recorded 11 saves for the shutout, helping Mitchell withstand 30 shots from Emmanuel. The Mariners totaled 12 shots, with 8 on goal.
Emmanuel had 7 corners and 30 shots but could not score, with Lucas Silvia and Joe Anderson leading the attack.
The Mariners (3-13-1, 2-8-1 GNAC) conclude their season on Wednesday, October 29, with a GNAC tilt at Dean College.
