Ansani Named GNAC Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Gabe Ansani (Trumbull, Conn.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week in men's soccer, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
It marks the first time in his collegiate career that Ansani has earned the honor, as well as the first time a Mitchell men's soccer player has been named Player of the Week since the College joined the GNAC prior to the 2023-24 school year.
After being held without a goal in the first two games of the season, Ansani broke out in Mitchell's 8-1 non-conference victory over Medgar Evers College on Saturday, September 6. He recorded three goals in the match, finishing with six shots, including three on goal, and a .750 shooting percentage, helping the Mariners secure their first win of the season.
Through three games, Ansani has appeared in all matches, totaling three goals on six shots with a .600 shooting percentage.
The Mariners (1-2, 0-0 GNAC) return to action on Tuesday, September 9, hosting the University of Hartford in a home tilt scheduled to kick off at 4:00 p.m.
