NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Mitchell College women's soccer team closed out its home schedule with a 5–0 loss to Simmons University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Prior the the game, the squad celebrated Senior Day with five senior student-athletes acknowledged: Cassandra Roman (New London, Conn.), Taylor Bialowas (Griswold Conn.), Lauren Cordero (Selden N.Y.), Halie Jennings (New London, Conn.), and Kiara Ampuero (New London, Conn.).
Simmons came out strong, scoring twice in the first half and three more times in the second. Grace Nostrant led the Sharks with two early goals, including one unassisted strike in the 12th minute.
For the Mariners, senior Taylor Bialowas (Griswold, Conn.) and sophomore Ava Iwasko (Sterling Heights, Mich.) each put shots on target, while senior Cassandra Roman (New London, Conn.) created several dangerous runs in the second half.
Mitchell sophomore goalkeeper Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) finished with 25 saves on 30 shots on goal. The Mariners managed seven total shots to Simmons' 39 and earned one corner kick on the day.
The Mariners (2–12, 0–12 GNAC) conclude their season on Tuesday, October 28, with a home GNAC match against Norwich University.
