NEW LOMDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team closed out their season Tuesday afternoon, falling 9–0 to Norwich University at Alumni Field in Great Northeast Conference (GNAC) action.
Norwich controlled the match from the opening whistle, recording 40 total shots—22 of them on goal—while limiting Mitchell to just seven attempts.
The Cadets struck early and often, netting five goals in the first half. Heidi Smith opened the scoring in the 17th minute with an unassisted strike, followed less than a minute later by Lily Briggs. Kat Probst, Zoey Lazzaro, and Probst again each added first-half goals, giving Norwich a commanding 5–0 lead at halftime.
Norwich continued after the break. Maddy Perry tallied early in the second half off a feed from Jasmine Hackman, followed by goals from Antonia Pellon, Bella Roy, and another from Probst, who finished with two goals and one assist on the day.
Mitchell sophomore goalkeeper Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) faced heavy pressure throughout the match, making 13 saves on 22 shots on goal in 90 minutes of play. Offensively, senior Taylor Bialowas (Griswold, Conn.) led the Mariners with four shots, including two on target, while fellow sophomore Ava Iwasko (Sterling Heights, Mich.) added another shot on goal.
Norwich keepers Michaela Dubey and Hannah Jenkins combined for the shutout, making three saves in total.
The loss concludes Mitchell's 2025 campaign, while Norwich's win moves them above .500 on the season as they prepare for postseason play.
