Record 32 Mariners Named to NECC Academic All-Conference Team
MANSFIELD, Mass. - A total of 123 student-athletes, including 32 from Mitchell College, were named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the 2022 winter/spring semester.
The 32 selections were the most Mitchell has produced in the winter/spring semester in its 13 years as an NECC member. The baseball team led the way with 11 selections while women's lacrosse had seven, followed by men's basketball (4), softball (4), men's lacrosse (3) and women's basketball (3).
Representing the Mariners were senior Lucca Ardovini-Brooker (baseball), sophomore Sarah Aviles (softball), senior Hunter Baillargeon (men's basketball), sophomore Jenna Bennett (softball), sophomore CJ Bradley (men's lacrosse), sophomore Trey Brennan (baseball), junior Ahmani Browne (men's basketball), junior Logan Casala (baseball), senior Stephanie Costabile (women's lacrosse), junior Tyler Daly (baseball), sophomore Robbie DelaCruz (baseball), senior James Giovanniello (men's lacrosse), junior Aizhane Glenn (women's lacrosse), junior Kenny Heon (baseball), junior Samuel Jackson (men's basketball), senior John-John Jose (baseball), junior Samantha Kasheta (softball), senior Desmond Knowles (men's lacrosse), sophomore Jessica Krupnikoff (women's lacrosse), sophomore Katelyn Lipsky (softball), senior Sam Majewski (baseball), sophomore Anthony Marini (baseball), junior Sam McKenna (women's basketball), sophomore Alex Novakowski (women's lacrosse), senior Tyler Peretz (men's basketball), junior Rachel Ricciuti (women's lacrosse), junior Robbie Roles (baseball), junior Bree Rudolph (women's lacrosse), sophomore Yasmine Santos (women's basketball), sophomore Luke Sullivan (baseball), junior Mariah Travisano (women's lacrosse) and sophomore Alexia Watson (women's basketball).
A total of 14 Mariners were first-time winter/spring honorees. Baillargeon, Browne, Casala, Costabile, Daly, Glenn, Heon, Kasheta, McKenna, Ricciuti, Roles and Travisano were repeat selections while Ardovini-Brooker, Giovanniello, Jose, Majewski and Peretz earned the distinction for the third time in their careers. Knowles picked up the honor for the fourth time.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, and men's and women's basketball were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.
